A biotech customer was experiencing tremendous growth as it focused on developing cancer-fighting immunotherapy drugs. Yet its technologies and data processing strategies were becoming burdensome. Getting data from their new patient portal in Salesforce into the multiple additional systems that needed the information, like their ERP, carriers, and manufacturing sites was a manual process. It was slow, and to keep pace with rapid growth and company demands, it was a process that needed to be streamlined.
In order to create a solution that allowed for data management across the patient treatment lifecycle, Dell Boomi was used as a next-gen integration platform as a service (iPaaS) and employed to develop a single, unified platform. To add resiliency, Azure cloud components were leveraged. The system was designed with automation, monitoring of system health, and visibility into process management as key components. Additionally, working with well-defined integration patterns created a solution for rapid re-use of components, further supporting scalability and growth.
The biotech firm saw a rapid return on investment as countless hours were reclaimed from manual integration work, alleviating administrative tasks and returning focus to developing treatments. When the client was later acquired by a larger biotech firm, the solution was kept and extended to replace the larger firm’s legacy integration processes.
